| In 1946, the Phillips
brothers, Leyton and W.R. Phillips,
Jr., began the family business known
as Phillips Contracting Company, Inc..
The company continues today under
the leadership of brothers Bob and
Stuart Phillips, sons of W.R."Billy"
Phillips, III, and Doug Phillips,
son of T.L."Bud" Phillips.
The third generation of management
is practicing the same principles,
values, and hard work that has made
Phillips Contracting Company a success.
Mr. Bill established Phillips Contracting
Company at the age of 26, after
returning home from World War II.
Starting out with the manufacturing
of concrete blocks, the brothers
worked long hours to gain the confidence
and respect that Phillips Contracting
Company continues to realize today.
When the demand for concrete blocks
declined, Mr. Bill decided to use
the knowledge he gained while serving
in a Navy Seabee Construction Battalion.
He helped construct airstrips and
other facilities while serving as
a Seabee. This experience, along
with hard work and perseverance,
is how Phillips Contracting Company
came to be what it is today.
Phillips Contracting Company now
performs all types of work: roads,
bridges, box
culverts, site work, dirt work,
curb & gutter work, driveways,
sidewalks, equipment rental, and
maintenance.
Family and community are very important
to the Phillips family. Phillips
Contracting Company supports many
schools and organizations while
actively participating in various
organizations.
